I have numerous DS5000 files stretching back over a year. They were made with different microphones (Revolabs and dictation into the handheld Olympus recorder itself with the ME-3 microphone, training each before using it for dictation). I don't know which microphone profile was used for which dictation profile. Is it necessary to do voice recognition of a file using the same microphone profile with which it was created? Is there a way to improve the transcription accuracy of the files which transcribe as garbled nonsense? Should I save the voice files and use them in some way to improve accuracy? -------------------------

The general rule of thumb is that you can use any good microphone on a user profile that was created with a good microphone and you can even use any less than optimal microphone on the user profile that was created with the good microphone but there are exceptions:
1. You shouldn't use a good microphone over a profile that was created with the bad microphone for obvious reasons 2. You definitely wouldn't want to use any microphone, other than a Bluetooth microphone, on a Bluetooth microphone user profile 3. Although you can usually get away with using the DS-5000 on a microphone user profile, you probably wouldn't want to go the other way around -------------------------
