When my firm decided to switch to iPhones and Android samsung galaxy tab/phone, I.  I soon discovered
an application called Dictamus
<http://www.jotomi.com/dictamus> and if you have $100.00 to
spare and an iPhone,

Does Dragon have an app--I use 9.5 and have an adroid phone and thinking of moving to samsung galaaxy tab or i phone---

new user,

Awfully expensive for an app that only record your audio.  It doesn't do any transcription (speech to text).  So, why would I want to spend $100 on an app then only record your audio.  Granted, it's very nice in terms of its editing features.  However, if you want to get it transcribed using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, then you have to get it onto your PC in a format that Dragon will recognize (i.e., MP3, WMA, WAV) as well as in a format from which Dragon NaturallySpeaking can extract the proper sampling size and rate.  In addition, if you're going to use it in conjunction with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you have to remember to dictate punctuation.  Otherwise, it's just a fancy recording device.

Does Nuance have a similar app?  No, they wouldn't waste their time on it.  What Nuance does have for the iPhone is a free streaming dictation that uses the Nuance back end server to transcribe your streaming audio to text and then feed it back to you in text format.  The only unfortunate side of this is that you're limited to 60 seconds per dictation.  Otherwise, Nuance doesn't find any value in this type of application.  At some point Nuance is going to release a simple dictation application for cell phones (probably primarily smart phones) that will allow you to dictate short documents transcribed directly from speech to text.  However, at the present time the only application that they have for doing that is designed for texting via speech.  Smart phones simply do not have the processing power or the memory to be able to do something like Dragon NaturallySpeaking on those phones.

So, I'm not sure that I would spend $100 to do what I can do better by simply recording dictation (audio) on my iPhone and transferring it to my PC as a WAV or MP3 file and then let Dragon NaturallySpeaking on my PC transcribe it.  Doesn't cost me anything.  I'm simply not interested in spending $100 on any fancy-schmancy audio recording app.

Actually the "Dictamus" app costs $15 and Dragon does have their own version that is free called "Dragon recorder."

Dictamus is worth the $15 because it's the only app that allows you to go back in your recorded dictation and "insert" some more information.  It also has an overwrite function.

So actually, if the audio quality is good enough for you, you can get rid of your $400 recorder.
