I have a dual monitor setup where I have a 20 inch monitor in portrait format on the left and a 22 inch monitor in landscape format on the right. The landscape/right monitor is the default. Situation 1 Applications that exhibit this behavior include, but are not limited to, Word 2003, PowerPoint 2003, Outlook 2003, Firefox 3.52, Photoshop CS2, FreeHand MX, KnowBrainer, Illustrator CS2, and more. I have not tried every application on my computer, but the only one I have found that actually works properly in this situation is Windows Explorer.

Do you have your desktop spread across both monitors? This will allow you to adjust the Windows size of each application and with a little luck, Windows will remember the last position on the screen. If you are working in this manner, we're not sure what would cause this problem. We are using 4 30 inch monitors in landscape view and do not experience this issue as long as we are in the application before attempting to click a menu or button.

Lunis, I have the "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" option selected for the non-default monitor. I have no problems adjusting the window size and location, and Windows does seem to remember on which monitor to open the applications. I had the same setup running Windows XP Home before my computer crashed and it worked without any problem. Now that I am running Vista 64, I have noticed the problem. The only difference I can think of at the moment is that I used to be able to run a program by NVIDIA called nView, which is apparently not available for Vista. nView allowed me to switch monitors and control applications specifically. I have downloaded and installed a program called Display Fusion, which allows me to do some of what I used to do with nView. I have tested the problem with and without Display Fusion running to make sure that it is not causing the problem.

Is there any information I can provide that would help somebody provide a solution to this problem?

I am still encountering this problem and have not found a solution. I know one other person posted about a similar problem, but I do not believe they found a solution either.

Okay, I found a solution to the problem. I'm not sure how this came to mind, or even why it makes a difference, but... As I mentioned in the original post, "I have a dual monitor setup where I have a 20 inch monitor in portrait format on the left and a 22 inch monitor in landscape format on the right. The landscape/right monitor is the default." I simply made the left monitor the default and the problems are no more. ------------------------- WORK: 12.5 Premium, KB2012, VoiceComputer, Windows7x64, i7 930, 12GB, Sennheiser DWPro1 HOME: 12.5 Premium, KB2012, VoiceComputer, Windows7x64, i5 760, 8GB DDR3, Airline 77/Andrea USB pod.
