KnowBrainer has done a wonderful service trying to help we users of DNS overcome the obstacles caused by installing IE 7. Many of us are disabled (one of the leading reasons why we use DNS) and few of us have the technical computer expertise available through the volunteers of KnowBrainer. So, first let me say a big thank you on behalf of all of the users struggling with this dilemma. From all the comments in the various forums, it appears that, once we have made the mistake of installing IE 7 before installing the SP-1 patch, the only "fix" appears to be to run the System Restore tool. Unfortunately, it also appears that System Restore has a finite time frame after the "mistake" during which it must be used. For that reason and others, the System Restore process is unavailable to some of us. Other than completely reinstalling Windows and all our programs, is there a workaround the System Restore process? Using DNS 9.10 SP-1 preferred on windows XP professional SP2 on laptop w/2Gb ram 2.13 GHz 75 GB, Plantronics DSP headset/mic. ASK |
