I'm convinced now that my DSN9 problems are all related to having installed IE7 before a SP existed, and I must now "restore Windows" to a date earlier than when I installed IE7.  and I need to protect my user files from being screwed up in the process.  Unfortunately, I am not that computer literate to know how to do the restore, nor how to even locate my user files.

Can someone publish a step by step instructions on how to do this, understandable by a neophyte such as myself?

Thank you.

Simple step-by-step:

1.  Make certain that you can view hidden files and folders.  If you are not sure, you'll find a step-by-step in our Quick Tips by looking up “copying” (as in copying user files).

2.  Make a backup copy of your ~ C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking9\Users\(your username)\ user file folder.  If you require additional instructions look up “copying” in the previously mentioned Quick Tips document.  You can probably copy your user file folder to any place on your computer but we recommend a thumb drive for total security.  You might even consider relocating your user files to a thumb drive permanently.  You'll find additional information on this technique by looking up “thumb” in the aforementioned Quick Tips.

3.  Click the Start button followed by Accessories/System Tools/System Restore and follow the prompts.

Lunis, thank you for the easy instructions to follow.  I've now backed up the user file, and am about to do the system restore.  Some followup questions before I proceed:

1) I currently have DNS9 SP1 preferred, upgraded from DNS8 preferred.  Should I remove either or both of those programs, then reinstall them once the system restore is completed?

2) If you recommend reinstallation of DNS9 (and 8), should I also reinstall the SP1 for 9? What about the 9A update patch?

Thanks again, and my apologies to the other forum participants for asking such simplistic questions.
