I noticed that when correcting an item in the correction box when the other box that shows the speech that DNS is "hearing" is visible (the yellow box that has the red "stop" button in the upper left corner) , there is a long delay even when I click my selection (as opposed to just saying "choose 3," for example). This is significantly delaying things when using DNS (I'm using DNS 9.5 medical). I just timed how long it took to correct something, and there was a 4 second delay. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ------------------------- "in theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. but in practice, there is." for more quotes, see www dot docflash dot com/quotes.html

We were experiencing the same delay with Select-&-Say correction until we turned off our AVG Antivirus software and replaced it with Avira. We are not necessarily saying that you need to switch to Avira although it is free. We are simply saying that another process in your computer is interfering with NaturallySpeaking during Select-&-Say correction and although we've always assumed that AVG was very fast, replacing it with Avira turned out to be the solution for us. Our Spell That correction has always been very fast but until we switched to Avira, we had to turn off Select-&-Say correction because it took so long. Our quad core Vista computer has 3 Gb of RAM and it could take as long as 7 seconds before the drop-down choices would appear so we more than feel your pain on this one.

i only have the problem when the mike is turned on. if the mike's off (horizontal) there's no delay at all. i'm not sure how my antivirus (NOD32 by eset) would cause this, but i'll give it a try. thanks for taking the time to respond. ------------------------- "in theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. but in practice, there is." for more quotes, see www dot docflash dot com/quotes.html
