I just happened on this update while searching for something else on the Knowbrainer forum.

My experience with 9.0A is that it resolves the slowdown from 8.0 to 9.0, and maybe improves the accuracy compared to 9.0 even more than when upgrading from 8.0 to 9.0 .

I wonder if others here have had the same experience. And why doesn't Nuance show this update automatically for 9.0 users?

Just downloaded it - and almost installed it ...

But before I do, two big questions to Lunis !!!

- what happens to KnowBrainer 2006 when we upgrade to 9.0A ?

- have you tried (or has anyone tried this with UniVoice) ... just want to make sure UniVoice continues to work.

I for one don't appear to have experienced the slowdowns 9.0A is designed to fix, but perhaps this is because I've just started to switch seriously from 8 to 9.

The DNS Update A is fully compatible with KnowBrainer 2006 and UniVoice and we recommend installing it.

I wonder if the DNS9A patch would be indicated at all now that DNS 9 SP1 is out.  Nuance appears to have removed it from their website.  However, still here on KB.

The "9.0A patch" is specifically to fix the problem that DNS 9.0 can appear to freeze when it attempts to process a very long "utterance" produced, for example, when the microphone is left open in a noisy environment.  Changes to the Language and Acoustic Models resulted in processing delays. The patch reduces the time taken to analyse and display speech data during normal dictation of long utterances.

No other problems are fiixed by this patch.
