I wonder if anyone can please help. I have someone who I am working with who has a problem I have not encountered before.

Dictating into Microsoft Word. Text appears in the document fine, but whenever the term New Paragraph is spoken, the new paragraph is created above the paragraph which has just been dictated.

So, if you were to say

This is a test

Followed by

New Paragraph

The blank line for the new paragraph appears above the statement, this is a test.

This does not occur in Notepad or other applications.

Thank you if you can help.

I'm using a similar set up as you (DPI 15.6 and office 365 word) and I don't have that problem.

Does this occur 100% of the time, or just sometimes?

I get issues like this when I am using a combination of the keyboard and dictation. If I move the cursor around to different parts of the document with the mouse and keyboard, and type something there, and then I say some new dictation, sometimes the text appears in an unexpected location.

Barring an actual solution/answer, One thing you could try is saying the phrase "press enter" to create a new paragraph, or create a new custom command called "new paragraph" that hits the "enter" key

Thank you for your reply. Yes, it happens every time. I have learned today about V15.6 as opposed to V15.3 which this person is using. I'm going to try updating first, and then yes that was my next step, to create a custom command to press enter twice.

Before creating custom commands to perform tasks that Dragon should be doing by default, here are two things to try:

1. Open the vocabulary editor, search for "new paragraph", and check whether its properties have been changed. If they have, restore the default settings.

2. Create a new profile.

                   Welcome (See Mission Statement)

Are you using DPI 15.3 in Microsoft Word 2019 (Microsoft 365)? Unfortunately, only Ver. 15.6 is fully compatible. You can either roll back to Microsoft Word 2016 or you might get away with creating your own hard paragraph command. Try copying the following Advanced Scripting command from KnowBrainer 2017 (w/2020 AI Commands), unless you are already using KnowBrainer and post back.

Name: Hard Paragraph

Script:

Sub Main
SendKeys "+{Enter 2}"
End Sub
