How can I tell which dictation source is selected by Dragon on start up?  I have 2 different microphones connected most of the time, depending if I wish to be hands-free or not. I can tell which one is enabled when Dragon starts up – my desktop mic or my headset.  I can't seem to tell by looking at Dragon which one is selected.

If you can use a mouse, hover over the microphone symbol on the DragonBar in version 15.

And if you can't use a mouse, try this command I call "profile please":

Sub Main
    x = vbNewLine & "Profile: " & EngineControl.Speaker _
        & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & "Vocab: " & EngineControl.Topic _
        & vbNewLine & vbNewLine & "Source: " & _
        EngineControl.DictationSourceNameGet(EngineControl.DictationSource) _
        & " (" & EngineControl.DictationSource & ")" & vbNewLine
    CreateObject("WScript.Shell").Popup(x,2,"Dragon Profile Info",0)
End Sub

Which displays Profile name, Vocabulary, and mic source (not the same as the name, but should be enough to tell mics apart) and then disappears on its own (or you can click it away).

Hth,

PG, I am once again amazed at the handy little scripts you have made over the years. Have you thought of putting your expertise in a book or product or something so others can have access to all your knowledge? Gems are scattered throughout the forum, but they are hard to find.

Thank you for the solutions, they both worked.   Such a relief.
