Hi

I've just re-installed windows 10 and dragon capture. However, Dragon Capture will not accept the serial number, as it was used for the previous installation on the same machine. As the old installation no longer exists, I have a problem.

How to I resolve this?

I have now released the activation key on the server, but do note that I will do this only once.

The next time you re-install Windows, which will change the computer name, make sure to uninstall DragonCapture first, please.

PS: Also bear in mind that I can always tell your activation attempts, meaning for when you tried entering the same code for the second time, and from which computer, by looking at my data base. It looks like you have been busy today, to say the least.

Yes, I have been busy. Two PCs with a virus , both locked up and needed windows re-install. One with a faulty graphics card. It's been one hell of a day. The December purchase of DragonCaptuire is working fine on my oiffice machine. The October purchase on my other machnine, serial [SERIAL # DELETED By MODERATOR TO PROTECT CLIENT] will not activate. As you say you will release the activataion once whern people have serious problems with their PCs and re -registtatrion, perhaops you would do this for me.
I hope you enjoy watching my activation attempts, the earlier activation will be on mty home machine, so it will take place this evening, FYI. I have bought two licenses for DragonCapture for two PCs. I trust all is in order.

PS when your customers have further fatal PC problems where they cannot uninstall, what happens to the license after the first time?

I tell you what I will do. Ask you to HONOR the sales you made to me, and which I purchased in good faith. Cut the sarcastic comments about watching me attempting to restore my PCs.
I will also ask Lunis to HONOR the sales he made to me. I bought them from him in good faith. I have little doubt he will honor that good faith. Why don't we cut the unpleasantness and get on with our lives? I don't have time for this crap. I'm sure you don't either.

Trying to avoid an interaction going bad like this:

I am about to "migrate" to a new PC. Old PC dying.

Q: what is necessary to migrate DragonCapture?

It sounds like uninstall on the old PC, reinstall (using original license) on new PC.

... just checking, because I vaguely remember that some Dragon/KnowBrainer related app does not release the key correctly on an uninstall, and requires using an idiosyncratic release/deactivation tool.

And while I'm asking: how would I accomplish such a migration if the old PC had completely died first, so that uninstalling was impossible?

Uninstalling Dragon, while connected to the Internet, should work. Unfortunately, it doesn't work all the time. You will also want to copy your ~ C:\ProgramData\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking15\Users\(your username) folder to your new computer, after you install DPI 15 and while you're at it, you might as well install the Dragon 15 Patch before launching Dragon for the 1st time. This will save rebooting

 

With KnowBrainer you will need to right-click on the KnowBrainer hidden icon (not the desktop icon) and she was Release Activation.

That's correct. When uninstalling DragonCapture, you will be prompted accordingly, as opposed to when uninstalling Dragon, which does it, or is supposed to do it, silently.

Similar to this..
I wanted to upgrade my DragonCapture to the latest stable version. I uninstalled the first, but was presented with the error that the license could not be deactivated. It was suggested to re-install and uninstall once more. I've done this several times, but I still have the same issue. I rebooted my PC and Windows 10 updated. How can I resolve this issue to re-install and input my license that was purchased last year?
