Hi,

The other day, I thought that I had lost my application of Dragon. I realized I making many mistakes.

I need to backup my profile but does that include my vocabulary which I also need to backup. I see instructions on how to backup my profile.  Does anybody know a very cheap way to backup to the web?  The files that need to be backed up or very small. I probably should be backing up to the web into a USB thumb drive.

Thanks,

Ellen Madono

Your profile is located at C:\ProgramData\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking15\Users\(your username) folder. You can drag & copy your profile folder to a flash drive, external hard drive or the cloud. This folder includes absolutely everything Dragon personal. We will let you decide on the cloud but if you're using the business version of Office 365, you can copy your entire computer to OneDrive. Note that OneDrive is not designed to be a backup utility but can be manually used that way. We recommend using a proper backup utility. We will let you decide on pricing and usefulness.

I periodically back up my computer files to an external drive, but I don't include Dragon files as part of it, except for three files:

1. An exported list of my custom words and phrases.
2. My custom commands.
3. A sample of my writing.

If a disaster were to strike, I would use these three files to create a new profile. The only things not backed up are my personal settings and the properties of the word "new line." (I think there is a file that contains personal settings, although I have not bothered to memorize which one it is!)

The entire process to get up and running with Dragon would be five or ten minutes -- I figure that's much less time than creating a "proper" backup. Also, the new profile is guaranteed not to have any problems that I may have inadvertently introduced into my existing profile.
