I am having problems with DNS 15.3 Pro adding a space before punctuation in Select-and-Say applications such as Word and Outlook. Initially this Happened only occasionally but now is becoming standard. This is really inhibiting my work and I would be very grateful for suggestions as to how to resolve the problem.

Start a new user profile.

Laura,

If creating a new user profile doesn't solve the problem then you can create application-specific commands which bear the exact same names as the built-in Dragon commands.

Use DVC, Advanced Scripting will be too slow for this. Examples:

Period

SendKeys "."

Comma

SendKeys ","

You can create commands for the most common punctuation marks. However it's probably best to create one big (global) list command.

The only difference is that you have to pause briefly before issuing the commands instead of speaking in one go like with the (continuous) Dragon punctuation commands.

While your approach is bulletproof, it's also a highly inefficient solution because you have to pause before and after dictating all of your punctuation. A new user profile is by far preferable.

I guess more than that. I wonder what happens if people actually follow the advice and "create one big gobal list command" to replace the punctuation in the suggested way, only to find that this will screw up the formatting of the text most effectively.

Lunis,

Of course creating a new user profile is the best solution. I have recommended this many times in the past for many types of Dragon problems. However if you read carefully you'll see that I wrote: "If creating a new user profile doesn't solve the problem"
