Hi all, I'm a long time DNS user currently on Windows 10 DNS 14. When I used older versions of Dragon (11.5) I was able to open a new tab and dictate directly into the address bar to perform Google searches. But on DNS 14 this seems broken. I am either unable to dictate anything, or the sentences I dictate are cut short by one letter/several words.  I seem to have the same problem in the Google search box at the centre of the open tab page.

I love the new functionality of DNS (particularly the 'click' link possibilities) but this is proving a real headache for me. Any help would be gratefully appreciated, many thanks

Try checking the following file detailed in the thread below:

http://www.knowbrainer.com/forums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=4&threadid=30947&highlight_key=y&keyword1=Global%20dictation

Check both the following are set to 1:

[.Global\Compatibility Module Status]

Global Dictation=1

[chrome|71.0\Compatibility Module Status]

Global Dictation=1

Can you post the complete file please?

Do you have the Dragon extension added? Is there a Dragon symbol top right hand corner indicating this or can you check your extensions? The new tab in Google Chrome is a unique situation even with the Dragon extension as you will find commands like "show links" will not work in the new tab due to security issues. Can you check if you can dictate into the address bar when the tab is not a new tab i.e. it doesn't say "new tab" on the tab?

Thanks again, I will post full file below. I cannot dictate into the address bar even on an old tab (dns says 'please say that again'). The add-on is visible to the right of my address bar.  And dictation works perfectly into boxes such as this forum. All 'click' link function seem to be working fine as well. I recently set up this PC and removed some standard Windows bloatware, so possibly I took out something to do with speech?

Forgot to say, every time I tried to dictate into address bar or Google search dragon opened the dictation box. But I uncheck this feature so this has stopped happening now.

Okay try adding the following lines leaving a new line between these 2 lines and the last entry:

[.Global\Compatibility Module Status]

Global Dictation=1

Are you telling me that on a new tab you can use the command "show links" or "click link"?

No I can't, I mean I can use that functionality on existing tabs.  Do you want me to replace anything in the .ini or just add those text lines to the bottom? Many thanks for your help

Okay you had me going there. Don't replace anything, just add those lines at the bottom.

Thanks monkey, I have added the lines and restarted Google Chrome and DNS. Now instead of saying 'please say that again' it begins dictating then stops abruptly. For example, I just opened a new tab, clicked the address bar and then said 'is this working'. Dragon wrote 'is this w' and then stopped. "It's working a bit" became 'it's working a b'. Thanks again for your patience and help

You are welcome but I do not know why it is suddenly losing focus unless you have some form of dwell click and a HeadMouse and you moved the focus inadvertently. Incidentally the problem may reoccur so you may need to check the file again if it does.

aha I have a dwell mouse 'Point N Click' - you are a genius for working that out. Is there any way to solve this compatibility issue (maybe a different dwell program)? or must i choose between one or the other?

It was a lucky guess because I have a SmartNav with dwell click and tend to do the same thing myself occasionally. However with the SmartNav dwell-click program it is easy to switch the clicker on and off without closing the program just hovering above the relevant icon on the dwell-click bar at the top of the screen. Which dwell click program are using?

I use freeware https://polital.com/pnc/ but thanks to you isolating the problem I now have a perfect workaround. I just say 'Google search for XXXX' and it pops up in a new tab which I can then 'click link' to my heart's content. Many thanks for all your help to a stranger, pat yourself on the back sir

I was having that problem with mine also, although I am able to dictate in the address bar. Also on mine, with the Dragon Web Extension enabled, I was able to use the command "show links" and it would pop up with the green numbers on all the links. But then it would just randomly stopped working, I would pull up the extensions and disable it, then reload chrome and reenable it and it would work fine. Other times I would have to totally uninstall it, then reinstall it and it would work fine. NOW it does not want to work at all with chrome! I wouldn't mind switching over to Firefox, but voice controls don't work on it either. I hate Internet Explorer, what other options are there?

We recommend the following:

1.  Switch to the developer beta version of Chromium Edge, which is simply a more stable, faster browser that handles Dragon extensions better. Dragon's Google Chrome extension isn't quite ready for prime time. That's why we nicked it; in favor of Chromium Edge.

2. Direct search field dictation is hit or miss but even when you're lucky, you only have Dragon Natural Text. You already have 2 bulletproof better solutions in your KnowBrainer 2017 utility:
      (a) You can Force Dictate into the search field and simultaneously click the Search button by using your name Enter <dictation> command. For example, if your cursor is inside the search feel, you can say Enter <electric cars> to simultaneously dictate and search for “electric cars”.
     (b) The previous answer is unnecessary because you no longer need to place your cursor into any browser search field. All you have to do is say Search for <dictation>. This is 5 times faster and eliminates problems; if the Dragon extension is working or not working.
Cooking with gas!

3. If you switch to Chromium Edge or wish to continue using Google Chrome, install MDL's Click By Voice to voice automate most links, buttons etc. and even fields. You will also find lots of other KnowBrainer commands for Click by Voice but you will need to upgrade to the latest KnowBrainer commands. You will find these new commands at the end of the new KnowBrainer Quickstart (Top 40). For example, you can simultaneously click into most fields and dictate.
