We have an eleven year old child with cerebral palsy who is trying to use Dragon software.  He is very bright and speaks clearly but when using Dragon, the software often misunderstands him.  We are told that this common with children.  Unfortunately he cannot type or write with his hands and he is very anxious to be able to get his ideas down in writing.  So this is the only option we have.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is what UniVoice is designed for.  UniVoice is a non-gender specific multiuser pretrained NaturallySpeaking user file that has successfully been used on children 5 and older.  If you would like additional information feel free to call us during our regular business hours 9 to 4 Monday to Friday.

Can you use UniVoice with Standard?  According to her User Profile, Karenbarth has DNS Standard Version 8.

Dana, thanks for noticing that Karenbarth is using Standard 8.
 
We think of DNS Standard as more of a speech recognition appetizer and although we could have supported DNS Standard with UniVoice and KnowBrainer, we chose not to.  We would be surprised if Nuance releases a DNS Standard 10 because Windows Vista and DNS Standard are very close in functionality and the Vista speech engine is virtually free.
 
UniVoice only works with the Preferred 9 and the Professional 9 versions of NaturallySpeaking.  Fortunately Karenbarth can upgrade to Preferred 9.5 for the same price as Standard and considering how important this is, she should not be using out-of-date software when accuracy is of the utmost importance.
