Has anyone performed an upgrade from  DNS Pro  V7 SP7.2  to Pro  V9, where v7 was originally installed on a Windows 98/2000 system, and the upgrade was installed on a Windows XP service pack 2 system? 

If so, would like to know if v7 was on the XP system at the time the upgrade was performed (how did you get  v7 installed on the XP system?), or if  you temporarily inserted the  v7 disc as part of the v9 upgrade installation.

(Background: trying to determine if said upgrade will work for me, or if I need to go out and purchase a complete new  v9.  Nuance TechNote 5461 [related to my questions] says  v7 must be already installed on the system in order to do the  v9 upgrade, but telephone customer support put me on hold, came back on the line, and said tech-support told them you just need to insert the v7 disc during the upgrade. Also, TechNote 4800 says v7 may not be compatible with XP SP2...) appreciate any information or clarification anyone out there can provide.

If the Nuance Technical Support team said you could install the NaturallySpeaking Pro 9 Upgrade by simply inserting the Ver. 7 CD when prompted, they were dead wrong.  That only works with Ver. 8 and sometimes has to be repeated several times before it takes.  It took 4 tries on our system.

Unless you have a full copy of Ver. 9, you will need to preinstall Ver. 7.
