I recently got a new computer and am getting around to seeing voctool.exe does not seem present. I am looking in the ~\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking11\Program folder and see other DNS files but not this one.

Am I missing something? Where can I get it without doing a complete download and install of 11.5.

I am running DNS 11.5 Pro.

Mac,

Unfortunately it is no longer available with the standard Professional version. I had to get a special VAR version which is obviously only available to value added resellers if they sign a particular contract.

It may be available with Legal or Medical but that is a very expensive

option.

. I will try to find out for you if you can obtain it as an end user with Professional. Someone else may know in the meantime. You can still use the VocTools DLL file if you are a programmer to obtain the same sort of functionality but that is very unlikely to be a solution.

Voctools.exe is as standalone executable still installed with the Legal version, in the program folder. However, when trying to copy it across to a non-Legal version to run if from there, it will fail telling you that it is not allowed. So basically you are out of luck trying this. On the other hand, you get almost the same functionality from the vocabulary builder integrated in the vocabulary menu, except for a few options, such as allowing to choose a particular slot to build a language model in, and whether or not it will be an incremental build, and the size of slot. But that's not really essential as far as I am concerned.

Michael,

I concur with RĂ¼diger. Nuance did this primarily to restrict the creation, sale, and distribution of third-party vocabularies using the Middle slot, which adds a new vocabulary words to the Active Vocabulary (Vocabulary Editor - not to the Middle slot), but primarily creates an associated Middle slot Language Model. They also ran into some technical support issues that they would rather not have to deal with.

Unless you know how the Middle slot works, it really is no longer viable or necessary.
