hello all I turn my computer on today here in Australia Thursday 19th and the critical update is available. I have not installed it yet because of the changes that were made to version 11.5 update regarding the Twitter and Facebook that everybody would be using one here.

 

I was just wondering if anybody if anybody knew anything about the update as I would like to download it first to the hard drive without installing as it makes it easier when you have to reinstall equipment as I have done with the other previous critical update.

First, there has been and will be only one update for DNS 11. That service pack was released on July 26, 2011 (DNS11ServicePack1.exe). There has been no subsequent update since then and there will be no further updates.

Second, the DNS 11.5 service pack update includes a lot of good features (new). However, there are ways of dealing with the Twitter and Facebook issues if you don't want them. In addition, DNS 11.5 also loads a server file for the remote iPhone application allowing you to use the iPhone as a remote wireless mic. This can and should be disabled unless you have an iPhone and intend to use it for this purpose. DNS 11.5 can sometimes crash if the dnsspserver stops functioning. The bottom line is if you're not using the dnsspserver, why allow Dragon to load it? Doing so is unnecessary and superfluous.

Lastly, the best way to install the update patch is to download it and save it, remembering where you saved it, shut down Dragon completely and make sure that natspeak.exe does not remain loaded, then double-click and run the DNS11ServicePack1.exe. Attempting to install the SP1 update while Dragon is loaded is wrought with potential problems and definitely not recommended.
