Dragon medical 11 (upgrade) running on Windows 7 Pro. Application was installed and working. Implemented transcription of DSS files. Got the error message The file DOCOBJ.DLL did not register itself – please reinstall.

This has problem been discussed several times before, but I see no solution that works.

It is noted that DOCOBJ.DLL is not in the install kit, so reinstalling will not help. I did that anyway, but it did not help.

I hope somebody has an answer.

Bob

Try this:

Well, it's past the point where we can make any changes in the code, but we can still make changes to the Easter Egg!

Did you, by any chance, have an installation of Microsoft Office 97 on this computer in the past. We haven't seen this error in a while but when we searched for DOCOBJ.DLL in the NaturallySpeaking Quick Tips (located under Recommend Links section of this forum), we found information about searching your computer for DOCOBJ.DLL and removing it because the file is no longer needed. Would you mind trying both solutions and letting us know which works so that we can update the Quick Tips if necessary?

Thank you for your response. I regret that I have no quick tips for resolving the problem. Addressed the problem by reverting to a Windows restore point and reinstalling Dragon Medical 11.

This was a new installation installed on the Windows 7 PC remotely via logmein. Current version of Olympus transcription software was previously installed.
User setup with audio source digital file. Physician dictated Kennedy speech audio training, downloaded to .dss file, which was used to complete the user setup. Used the toolbar Tools option to analyze about 1000 Microsoft Word documents (letters) to update vocabulary.
System worked to transcribe a .dss test document.
Later, working via logmein shared session with physician's secretary, noted that in the transcription window to BROWSE to file button did not function - nothing happened.
Started getting the error "not installed completely"
Removed Dragon via control panel and reinstalled, keeping user profile. Error continued.
Executed Windows system restore to prior to Dragon install, reinstalled with new user profile, using the same training regimen. Seems to work ok.
System has Microsoft Office 2010 installed. No other version of Microsoft Office.
There was no DOCOBJ.DLL in the System32 or in the SysWOW64 folder when the error occurred. Installing and registering it did not help.

Thanks, Bob
