In the body field of an outlook 2007 e-mail, commands are working but it is not possible to dictate text.

I am assisting a client who is using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 professional, on Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2007.

Computer specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 3 GHz, 4 GB of RAM

Dragon is working normally in Microsoft Word 2007.

In Microsoft Outlook 2007 e-mails, Dragon commands are working, and client is able to dictate text in the To, CC and Subject fields of an e-mail, however is not able to dictate text in the body field.

I have checked that the NatSpeak add-in is enabled. Also, this is not an issue of dictation mode, command mode etc - have checked that.

any suggestions welcome.

Louisa,

In some cases, and I'm pretty sure that it applies to Microsoft Office 2007 as well as Office 2010, which I definitely know is required, there is an AddIn for Microsoft VBA for Outlook AddIn. This is normally installed along with Microsoft Office, but some users elect not to install it, which is a big mistake. If you're not in an e-mail message, this AddIn will show up in the Microsoft Outlook (Options) Add-Ins as inactive. Don't worry about that if it's there, which I doubt is the case as far your installation of Microsoft Outlook is concerned. The nature of this particular AddIn is that it is inactive until you open a Microsoft Outlook, at which time it becomes active. So, if it's there, don't try to activate it because all you'll be doing is like kicking a boulder. That is, it isn't going to move from inactive to active until you launch an e-mail message into which you wish to dictate.

However, and herein lies the Caveat. If it's not installed whether active are ineffective, then you will not be able to dictate into the body field of the Microsoft Outlook e-mail message. If this is the case, then you'll have to go back and modify your Microsoft Outlook settings to make sure that this option is installed. Otherwise, no matter what you do you will not be able to dictate into the body field Microsoft Outlook e-mail message. Please don't ask why it is required. It just is.
