While dictating with DNS suddenly a completely extraneous word will appear such as, "we'll". This often occurs in the context of a completely quiet room. It is there some way that I can cut down on the annoying extra words? |

The cause may be an improperly positioned microphone, or a sound system that is not quite up to handling speech recognition. You can check for flaws in the audio signal by going through the audio setup wizard, clicking "Play," and listening carefully for environmental sounds, buzzes, hums, breathing noises, high frequency distortions, etc.
Check the Recognition History. Do the extra words appear there? If not, you may be suffering from the "rouge command" syndrome that some (but not all) users of Version 11.x have reported. The problem may also manifest as individual letters being inserted; sometimes the letter replaces the first letter in a word. |

The Recognition log does show that the extraneous words are present. I am pretty sure that the sound system is adequate. I have just started using a new microphone, the Audio Technica Pro 8HEMW (w/USB). Is there a sound setting adjustment that may help? |

You do have a very good microphone. What kind of soundcard are you using? Sometimes using internal soundcards can cause problems. |

Running theNaturallySpeaking Audio Check will calibrate the microphone for you so there's nothing to preset and nothing to chance -------------------------
