You may note that from time to time I show up on this forum. When I have got everything working for my colleagues and myself in a particular version I usually disappear. If you look at some of my former posts you will note that we were having considerable difficulties in the transition over to 11.5 professional. However, a simple step has eliminated a huge number of the difficulties that we were having. The simple step was abandoning wireless microphones and going to a wired USB microphone. I have had about 10 to 12 people test this new microphone as a solution to our Dragon difficulties and there is unanimous consensus that the wired microphone should be used. The interruption that occurred with misrecognition of commands has virtually disappeared. The jumping about in documents has virtually disappeared. The recognition rate for words has also gone up astronomically. There is the usual problem with misrecognition from poor diction or bad habits in dictation. Given all the helpful suggestions I received during this process I thought it important to let you know what solution we had to making 11.5 professional more effective.

Your problem is a fairly common one. If you'll notice there are no Bluetooth microphone carried in the Knowbrainer shop. This is because Bluetooth and Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 11 have different sampling rates. |

I wouldn't jump to conclusions here. First of all we don't know what type of microphone is being used and second I have a blue parrot Xpressway that appears to work OK with 11.5. Have you used a Bluetooth microphone? The problem could be a lack of noise cancelling but I can tell you from my personal experience that my cheap Plantronics DSP 400 and my 185 VM Andrea wired microphones appear to work better than my wireless Jabra. Now this could be because of a lack of noise cancelling in my Jabra but the two aforementioned microphones don't appear to be any better in this department. The blue parrot Xpressway is just a backup microphone and I detest the Bluetooth sound coming through the headset not to mention I only have the back of the head band left as I have broken the others and this is very uncomfortable. I am by no means advocating Bluetooth headsets as I realise there are problems re. sampling rate and connectivity issues.
It could well be that they were using Bluetooth microphones but I wouldn't jump to assumptions and I also wouldn't jump to the conclusion that Bluetooth microphones were the cause of the their problems. Steve

wheelstb brought up an excellent point. Would you mind letting us know what you were using for wireless microphones? As wheelstb mentioned, since the release of Ver. 11 and the higher sampling rate, we have stopped recommending any Bluetooth microphones. Additionally, we have found many other wireless microphones to be less than stellar but wireless, on its own, (1.9 GHz, 2.4 GHz, UHF and VHF) should not contribute to lower or higher accuracy. 1 of the most accurate microphones we have ever tested is the wireless Samson Airline 77. Wireless, by itself, should not impede speech recognition in any way. -------------------------
