We just checked it out. Forum tags don't currently work (appears to be broken), the forum moderator frowns severely on any links leading to any type of documentation that leads away from their forum and before we even joined, we found out that any posting that contains the phrase KnowBrainer.com is filtered; although the word KnowBrainer isn't filtered out. It's hard to believe that Nuance would be that afraid of this forum but there you have it.

It must have to do with the community guidelines somehow. Here is what it says in the "Welcome..." posting, as an example:

Quote:
General Tips and Advice

•Please ensure that your comments remain on topic and in a positive manor. This forum is not intended for those who wish to promote other products nor to make complaints. Posts that do not meet this criteria may be modified or removed.

•This forum is not an alternative to Technical support, but an additional avenue for experienced Dragon users to help other Dragon users with questions and problems. If you do encounter a problem that requires assistance from Nuance Technical Support, please use the link above to "Open a Support Ticket". Now, it's time to get started by entering a new post or by reading/replying to someone eles's post.

However it seems he may have been better off using speech recognition software to compose it.

Right here, and if it doesn't seem the right place to do this, you can always hit the German forum that I run:

English spoken, by the way.

The new Nuance forum definitely has the biggest case of over moderating I have ever seen. The forum moderator has edited all 5 of my posts; many of them twice. It seems that you're not allowed to give out personal information or anything that could be construed as commercialism. We are not allowed to post any hyperlinks; even links to items we don't sell, like TeamViewer; that might actually be helpful to the forum membership. I experienced a similar issue on SpeechComputing forum which I no longer participate on but Nuance has clearly kicked it up a notch. I'm currently on the fence and waiting to see what havoc they will perform on my last signature tag but if there are any more edits, it simply won't be worth my time. It's just too hard to give technical support with both hands tied behind my back.

In my opinion, I believe they have shot themselves in the proverbial foot. It's a bit like comparing public broadcasting (Nuance forum) to commercial television (this forum). I can understand why they made their decision but that decision could easily cost them a good deal of qualified support.

Speaking of new forums… The new KnowBrainer Speech Recognition Forum is still on track to go live this Sunday and unlike the Nuance forum, it won't be censored to death and will include every posting currently on this forum. Hopefully, the change will be completely seamless with the link that currently goes to this forum, going to the new forum.

That seems ridiculous regarding the censorship of your product Lunis considering you sell their products.

When you say everything is being transferred over to the new KnowBrainer forums, do you mean all the member profiles, avatars and everything will not have to be redone in anyway by the members?

Had to laugh at GJ and Rüdiger's comments on where to complain :-).

If in doubt, come in here to have a moan :-))

Cheers

We are not even permitted to say that KnowBrainer is free to the physically disabled because we would have to give a link to our website which Nuance has blocked on their forum. We can appreciate that Nuance is determined to prevent vendor wars by keeping the forum strictly peer-to-peer but at the same time, these rules will undoubtedly impede many technical support answers which effectively creates a manufacturer amateur forum (for lack of a better term). From our perspective, they have essentially gutted their forum.

Don't try to post a message on the new
forum because it won't be viewable on this forum but you can take a peek at it now (via the previous link). There is still a little more construction to do (like activating the
Todays Post link) and some of that work won’t be finished until after it goes live this Sunday but we don't think you'll have to join, create a password or make any changes other than perhaps logging in for the 1st time. Your avatar, profile and even posting count, will be preserved. If you visit the new forum, you'll see most of this has already been done. When the new forum goes live this Sunday, you won't even have to create a new bookmark because this forum will simply be switched out. The new forum will hopefully give Nuance a new goal to aim for
