The banner at the top of the pop-up dialog box says "Dragon naturally Speaking." There is a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle next to the following text. "An error occurred while saving or copying the user profile. The directory XYZ cannot be deleted. Try closing other running programs or restarting your computer. Error details: the directory is not empty." The 2 available buttons are labeled "close" and "help".
====================
At another point in the shutdown process I get the following pop-up message: The banner at the top says "Dragon Naturally Speaking". There is a triangle with an exclamation point in the middle next to the following text. "The current user profile cannot be saved because the user profile directory is being used by another program or is currently unavailable. Would you like to proceed without saving the user profile?" At the bottom are two action buttons: one is yes and the other no.
============================== QUESTION: What other program(s) can be thwarting exiting from DNS?

We see 2 possibilities:
1. The most likely possibility is that NaturallySpeaking was unable to flush the ~ C:\ProgramData\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking11\Users\(your username)tb folder. This folder is used to store a temporary backup but if it cannot be flushed, your user file changes won’t be saved. In most situations, if you attempt to resave your user file, it will work. Since it looks like you have set your DNS options to save your user profile when exiting, you will have to answer NO to the initial question and attempt to exit DNS again. If that doesn't work, you can browse to the tb folder, via Windows Explorer, and manually delete the contents. 2. Although this problem occurs less often, sometimes Windows becomes confused and will not allow you full rights to your user folder which can prevent NaturallySpeaking from saving and sometimes even opening your user profile. A reboot will normally take care of this problem but should it become permanent, you can optionally move your user profile to another address such as your desktop or flash drive where you have full administrator rights. The next time you lunch NaturallySpeaking it won't automatically know where your user profile is but you can use the Browse button to show NaturallySpeaking where your user profile has been moved to. You should only have to do this once as NaturallySpeaking is smart enough to write this information to its INI file. -------------------------
