When I am browsing files in XP desktop or file explorer and I say "Move Down 7", it moves down 5 sometimes, 6 other times, and similar with other large numbers. When I tell it to move down 20, it moves down 2. The correct command shows up in a blue box, so when I say "Move Down Ten", "Move down ten" shows in a blue box, but it doesn't move down exactly ten. Any idea what is going on?

Thanks!

It almost seems as if in version 11, there may be a mismatch between the actual current cursor position and what Dragon thinks the position is at times. I notice the same type of behavior when in the spell box, and dictating "backspace 4", for instance, most of the times it will only backspace 3.

However, as far as dictating "move down 20" turning out as "move down 2", that's expected behavior, because in version 11, the maximum range has been set to 19.

Thank you for your reply. I just wish I knew how many you would be off by an I could predict and adjust.

catquas,

the 'move down 20' command will only move down 2 spaces because this is a bug in version 11-11.5 and Rüdiger is quite right in saying 'move down 19' is the most you can say in one utterance for the cursor to move using Dragon only.

You have no details in your member profile.  I know you are using version 11 but have you got the Premium version, or one of the Professional versions?  Are we also to assume you do not have KnowBrainer either?  We need some more detail on your computer spec as well.

The reason I ask is because if you have one of the Professional versions, I have a .dat file that you can put into the Command Browser and then you can say 'Go Down 20' or any other direction instead of saying, 'move down 20' and this will work and move 20 spaces in the direction you choose.  I can post the .dat file in my next post if you wish.

Also, if you have one of the Professional versions, you can easily make a script for the amount of spaces you want to backspace as well.

Cheers

Thanks, I updated my info. In general dragon runs much slower on the computer mentioned in my profile (my work computer) then in my home computer. I'm not sure if it is because of all the security stuff running in my work computer, or because once my work computer got bumped around a little in a bag and maybe got hurt, or for some other reason.

I've been playing with it on the work computer again and it has been more accurate in the number of spaces it moves, but I still see errors.

catquas,

I see you have DNS 11.5 Pro.  I have attached the .dat file for "Go Down 20."

Once imported into your Command Browser, you will be able to say "Go Down <1-20>," "Go Up <1-20>," "Go Left <1-20>" or "Go Right <1-20>."

This then takes the place of the "move up" etc. etc. command.

This is by courtesy of Chuck Runquist who kindly gave me the.dat command in the first place.

Right click the zip file I have attached to this post and select "save target as" from the menu. Select a destination on your computer that you can easily navigate to. Somewhere like your desktop or your 'My Documents" library. Navigate to that destination you selected on your computer and then open the zip file.  Once opened, this will then show the .dat file.

Copy and paste the .dat file to a folder location on your hard disk where you can easily find it later from a file dialog box. For example, you might want to save it to your Desktop or to your "My Documents" library.

In Dragon NaturallySpeaking, say, "Open Command Browser," and go to the Manage area. Click Import, and then locate the .dat file on your hard drive and choose it. Work through the dialog box that appears to import this file into your set of Dragon NaturallySpeaking commands.

You should then be ready to go and be able to activate the commands.

Cheers

Catquas, are you actually using DNS Pro? The reason why we ask is because we couldn't find that information in your profile although we see that you are using windows XP Professional. When you're editing your profile, you will see a drop down box that gives you the option to choose the DNS subfamily (Home Edition, Premium, Pro, Legal, Medical). We mention this because if you are not using DNS Pro, you will not be able to import Tiger Feet’s commands because Advanced Scripting commands only work in the professional versions of DNS. However, you can add third-party command utility like KnowBrainer 2011 which includes 11,000 commands including <Up/Down/Right/Left><1-20> along with the ability to create additional Advanced Scripting commands.

As previously mentioned, a bug in NaturallySpeaking limits you to moving up or down 19 rows or characters but it works reliably on our systems. We suspect that your computer might be a little underpowered and further suspect that when you say move down 19 that you can wind up moving down anywhere between 16 and 19 which, unfortunately means that you won't be able to effectively predict this commands behavior.

Instead of saying the word "twenty", try using the phrase, "two zero".
