Hi,

I’m stuck on this problem that I’ve never seen before…

On this workstation [Windows XP SP3 32 bit, Genuine Intel CPU 575 @ 2.00GHz, 4.00GB RAM (2.96 detected)], I created a new roaming profile and have previously prepared a text file (mots4.txt) to be imported into Dragon. None of these expressions exists in the base general French vocabulary.

Using Vocabulary à Import list of words or phrases, I checked “Preview the list of unknown words” before clicking on Next, added the file “mots4.txt”, clicked on Next, analysis of the file completes with “No New Word found”!

I can manually add new words or phrases but importation from a txt file doesn’t work.

Checking Dragon logs… I see these warnings prior to each words or phrases:

18:10:03 (VocTools) Vocabulary Tools Services released by "natspeak.exe" (thread = 0x670)

Using that same list on that same newly created roaming profile from another workstation works without issue [Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits, Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.2GHz, 8GB RAM].

Any clue what may be causing this?

Or what does Warning: Failed to retrieve flags for "Québec Inc.\\kébèkégnk" token (0x800706F4) means?

Thanks,

Admittedly, I have never seen that particular error message before, although it sounds kind of interesting. But one thing I notice from your Dragon log file, on that particular machine Dragon seems to have some difficulty identifying the processor type which may or may not contribute to it, just because it seems to get confused over it not knowing how to deal with the profile in that situation, and mixing BestMatch IV and BestMatch III as a consequence:

18:00:44 WARNING (EngSink): Votre ordinateur a un processeur à simple coeur. Vous avez ouvert un profil utilisateur créé sur un ordinateur à processeur multi-coeur.

That warning message means that the roaming profile was originally created from a multi-core computer. The current workstation is a single core. Dragon NaturallySpeaking will work normally on that machine, but performance and precision may be affected.

My current workaround for now is to import that word list to the desired roaming profile from another workstation that works properly. I am hoping that this issue is not the tip of the iceberg hiding a larger issue that i'm not aware of...

Nuance have also collected my logs and remotely checked the issue... I hope i can keep you guys posted if they ever come back with their feedback...

Albert,

I agree that the processor issue should not have anything to do with the failure to import words. From what I've seen, failure to import a word list is usually due to the format of the word list. Dragon 11 is pickier about the correct format and won't import a whole list if there is one entry in it that it doesn't like. In your case, there is a whole number of entries.

First, does your list start with the line

@Version=Plato

?

Then, I notice accented characters in the spoken forms. Could it be that these are causing an issue? Are there other accented characters in spoken forms that do not come up in the dragon.log?

Lastly, what happens when you remove the listed items from the word list and import it again? This would be my method of choice if there are only a handful of items causing problems - you can always enter those by hand.

Stephan

Hi,

I have even tested with a word list that contains only one bogus word "kaka", and still I get the same error.

18:01:23 [Speechtools]: Afficher les mots nouveaux is started
18:01:23 (VocTools) Vocabulary Tools Services version 11.50 Build: 100.56 (C:\Program Files\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking11\Program\voctools.dll) instantiated by "natspeak.exe" (thread = 0x6A8)

Attached, you can find the word list file (mots3.txt) that i used to import to the roaming profile.

That same file is imported successfully when i open that roaming profile from another workstation and import it.

For further clarification, can you please post the Dragon log from the computer where you can do this successfully?

Try recreating the word list from scratch, beginning with one word (or phrase). If you can import the list of one, add a few more items, and import again.

My guess is that there is an invisible, non-printing character in the file. Make sure to save the file as plain text, not .rft or .doc etc.

Hi,

Attached is the log file from the other workstation which can import words from a file successfully to the roaming profile "Daigneault"

I was able to import without problem a file containing over 7000 custom words.

Thanks,

Albert, in the past, I had some similar problems like the ones you have been outlining with certain words. "Draško" proved to be particularly problematic. Within your Vocabulary Editor, in the SPOKEN form, ensure that you have NO diacritic marks, with the required diacritic marks entered in the WRITTEN form. Personally, I found approach alleviated all my problems.

From your log, I note: "Magog". If you live anywhere near that location, one of the finest organists in Canada is the current Abbot of Abbaye de Saint-Benoît-du-Lac, Dom André Laberge. As an organist, he is magnificent, and well worth hearing.

Well, obviously, if anyone contributing to this thread, such as yourself, James, or Stephan for that matter, had taken the trouble to actually look at the word list, or at least spend some time thinking about it, they might have realized that there is nothing wrong with it, because he is using the French profile where the accented characters being used are far from offending in any way.

Most certainly however, as I have tried to point out previously, the problem is with the particular machine that these errors are being encountered on.
