I'm using DNS 11.5 on Windows 7. I'm having a new problem with the "microphone off"command. This command works well and shuts the microphone to the off state. However, after doing so, it comes on almost immediately with any conversation or Skype call, etc. It is behaving precisely like the "stop listening" command. I can only use my computer 'hands- free', so this is really problematic. I'm also using PCByVoice SpeechStart, which works really well in turning the microphone on hands-free. Any suggestions as to why the microphone will not stay off? Thank you. – Mike Jarvis

Hi Mike

If you're switching the microphone off (to the red state) and it is coming on in the green state then pretty much the only thing that can do that is SpeechStart. I would suggest the following:

1. Control Panel | Speech Recognition | Advanced Speech Options

train the default user profile (the one with the checkmark in it), when you do the training I would suggest unloading SpeechStart temporarily and switching off the Dragon microphone (red icon).

2. When you have completed the training, reload SpeechStart, right click on the yellow apple in the system tray and then choose Options | Check Accuracy

you should be getting readings around 94 or maybe slightly less, so as an example if you get a set of readings for the four commands as:

94.121,93.897,94.244,94.129

Then you should set the accuracy slider just below the lowest reading, so in this case I would suggest something like 93.8.

If you're still having problems then drop me an e-mail at lindsay@pcbyvoice.com and I can connect up and sort it out for you. If you prefer I can do that anyway and talk you through the process above.

Lindsay

Edit: Mike I am also aware that you are a hands-free user so doing some of the above may be quite difficult if you have no one there to help you. In that case just e-mail me and I will e-mail you a link straight away so I can connect up and sort it out.

Lindsay, thank you for these instructions and the consistently great support for PCByVoice. I'll give this a try and report back. – Mike

Thank you Lindsay. I followed your recommendations and it seems like that has taken care of the problem as suggested. Appreciate your guidance, and thanks again for SpeechStart! — Mike
