Anyone know a quick fix to make the square brackets into round brackets?  If this has been posted before, my apologies.

Do a search and replace in your word processor?  You could automate it with a voice macro if you have Pro or a 3d party macro add-in such as KnowBrainer or Vocola.

just so you are aware if you say:

open paren  it puts in the round bracket (

if you say:

close paren  it put is the clsoing round bracket.

There are alterantives as well.

Of interest, if you go into vocabulary editor and scroll to the top of the list where the commands are hidden you will find what each symbol is propertly called.

Keith,

Can you be a bit more specific?

Are we to assume you are using the US English version?

Are you referring to the new "Bracket That" command that automatically brackets an utterance?

Are you referring to the name/type of bracket you need to say to bring on-screen
a round bracket?

Cheers

What is your bracket command?

When I say open bracket I get "("

When I say open Square Bracket I get "["

These can be changed in the vocabulary editor and there are a number of different ways of saying to give the same that are contained in the vocabulary editor

Hi JoMark - when I say the command "open bracket", I get [  and when I say the command " close bracket", I get ].

I would like to get ( and )  in stead of [   and  ].

Thanks, Keith

Have you tried open paren and close paren or left paren and right paren to produce parentheses ( ) ?

I am not completely sure of the exact antecedents of the following command; I first became aware of it with the upgrade to DNS 11.5

Within DNS if you select a word or a word sequence and dictate the following: 'Bracket That' what has been selected will have (  ) automatically inserted around the word or the word sequence.

If you are dictating a sentence where you want a particular word to be encased with brackets, pause, dictate the word, and then immediately dictate: 'Bracket That', and the preceding word will be encased with ( )

"Show vocabulary editor"

enter the character "[" (without the quotes) as the written form and change the entry with the spoken form "open bracket" to "open square bracket" (or just delete it if a spoken form of "open square bracket" already exists)
enter the character "(" (without the quotes) as the written form and change the spoken form to "open bracket"

Then follow the same principle for the closing brackets.
