I am putting together a tutorial regarding speech recognition best practices. I would like to include a list of advantages that would make people want to explore using it. Besides the obvious benefit of increased typing speed for the average typist, what other benefits exist?

To me, the largest benefit is the ability to control your computer by voice to work hands free. By extension, with suitable interfaces, to operate peripheral devices ------------------------- Jomark |

For me, the benefits of DNS are really twofold. First, I started using DNS because I was suffering from terrible backpain, and my health professionals were all telling me that it was posture related. I do not have an injury or disability, but years of poor typing posture have now taken their toll. Using DNS has allowed me to type while maintaining very good posture - shoulders down and relaxed, chin back. Not only is my posture improved, but I can move around and stretch frequently while I am working, all of which are very beneficial for my back. Thanks to DNS and other efforts, my back pain is gone. Second, although I am a very fast typist, there are some things that take a lot of time. Taking error correction into account, DNS is not that much faster for me when typing a letter or a memo. That is because I can keep my hands on the home row of the keyboard, and when I can do that, I can type extremely quickly. However, when I have to take my hands off the home row - to type numbers, or use the mouse, then DNS is much, much faster for me. As a result, I use DNS to respond to emails and post accounting entries. In both cases, I am able to use my keyboard to tab through fields, and DNS to enter text and numbers. I can respond to emails and post accounting entries much faster than I used to, with much greater accuracy. ------------------------- DNS 12 Premium |

For me, while typing speed is a "Know Brainer" (Pun Intended) as on a good day I can type maybe 20 wpm and with DNS I can do over 3000 per hour! The real advantage is the less wear and tear on my HANDS! (I call it "Author-itis" ) I work hard with my hands during the day, and if I want to write on my book, without DNS I would be sunk!
