Some time agoI deleted the default open/close quotes command and replaced it with a smart quote that would be inserted by saying simply open or close quotes. This works inconsistently. Sometimes you get a" and sometimes you get the words open quote or close quote. training does not seem to stick. Any ideas appreciated. How can I go back to the default command and simply change the quotes when the document is completed?

If you only deleted open quote and close quote, you still have begin quote, end quote and a slew of other choices. Simply copy or edit a remaining pair of dictation commands. Smart quotes don't always work for us either but function reasonably well about 98% of the time. Our solution was to add Left Quote and Right Quote rather than edit existing commands.

Hi DaddyG, this might sound obvious, and you have probably tried it already, but I have found that I get the words close quote if I do not leave the pause between the word which I am putting the quotes around, and the command to close the quotes. I have a theory that this is related to the amount of RAM on a two computers (work and home) on which I have DNS installed. I have 2 GB of RAM on my home laptop (the maximum that the laptop will allow), and I can 'feel' that if I had double that amount I would have absolutely no problems whatsoever. As it is, DNS runs pretty well on this home laptop. At work, the situation is not so good – I think the combination of the fact that the small network we have is not that friendly towards Dragon, and the fact that I need quite a bit more RAM in the computer adds up to the fact that Dragon makes frequent mistakes. Good luck with this. Drutgat. |
