With the latest and greatest download, must I still keep Knowbrainer's window open for the commands to function?
I hated it in previous versions because it took up my taskbar real estate. |

Although it is necessary leave KnowBrainer running in order to use it, like any program, it isn't necessary to leave KB2006 running on top of your desktop. Simply minimize it. You can optionally launch KnowBrainer minimized by adjusting the properties of the shortcut.

I understand that you can minimize the window; but it still remains as a window on the taskbar, yes?

KB2005 created an icon only when it loaded is it not possible for KB2006 to do the same?

Currently you can only minimize KB 2006 to the taskbar, like most other programs, but we have forwarded your suggestion onto our programmer. At the moment he's focusing on KB 2006 for Preferred 9 so his plate is a little full at the moment. We are also beginning work with Windows Vista.

A thought on this - PC Magazine has a utility called Title Bar Addons that adds icons at the top right of all windows, and allows you to do more with them. One is that you can minimize programs to the System Tray that are normally minimized to the Taskbar. Would that interfere at all with the operation of KB? It would get the real estate back that some are concerned about.

Although we haven't tested this utility, we don't believe it would cause KnowBrainer any problems.

Any response? Possible change for future releases?

I agree, I want my real estate back.

This has been requested several times. Initially, Lunis stated that the program had to stay in the task bar for access to the command browser, but his latest reply, on October 5, was, “We also like this approach and have already made the recommendation to our programmer.”
