I have pasted several shortcuts on my desktop to allow me quick access to various folders and documents I use frequently. When I use Start command to access one of them, it opens but not as the active window. If I say any command another copy of the same window opens. This will go on for 30-120 seconds. Now that I recognize what is happening, I tell it to go_to_sleep until NaturallySpeaking responds to that command. After that, I can close any extra windows that were inadvertently opened and use the open window normally. Other observations: Any idea why this is happening? Thanks------------------------- djbman |

Loss of Windows focus was an issue with Ver. 10 that we believe was resolved in Ver. 10.1. We recommend clicking the Check for Updates link in the Help menu. Other options include purchasing a full Backup DVD of Pro 10.1 or upgrading to the Pro 11.5 Upgrade.
Quote: During this 30-120 seconds, the microphone indicator remains active; yellow while listening It sounds like you might be experiencing a small amount of interference with your current sound system. Are you using your ANC 700 microphone plugged into an integrated sound card? If so, the soundcard might not be quite hot enough for your microphone. We typically recommend an ANC USB Pod (external USB soundcard) with the ANC 700. Another possibility is some sort of minor external interference. You might try rerunning the Audio Setup Wizard and listing to the playback, by pressing the Play button, to see if you have any interference that you need to deal with. -------------------------

djbman, I don't think that Lunis read your post very carefully. You cannot have DNS 10.0 installed under Windows 7 64-bit. It won't install. Therefore, you must have DNS 10.1 because DNS 10.0 does not support 64-bit operating systems. Also, if you already downloaded DNS 10.1, that is a full install version. In addition, you cannot get it via the "Check for Updates" from the Dragon Help menu on the DragonBar. It was never released as an update only as a full version download if you have already indicated you have done. Therefore, if you have it, that's all you need if you need to run a reinstall or Repair. If you have misplaced that downloaded file, which is a self extracting zip file and from which you can create your own DVD, you can always go back to that website and re-downloaded it. However, you should have kept the original e-mail that had the link for the direct download. If you did, then all you have to do is click on that link in that e-mail and you will get the automatic download dialog. Otherwise, as I said, you can go back and re-download it if you need to. When creating shortcuts on your desktop, copy and paste is not the best way to do it for the reasons that you've already discovered. Right-click on the desktop, click on New and then click on shortcut. Follow the instructions in the shortcut Wizard. After creating your shortcut you can rename it if you wish and Dragon should properly open it with the "start <shortcut name>. However, using "Start <name> does not always give you the desired result. If you continue to have a problem using the start <shortcut, program, name>, then try using the "open" command. That is, "open <shortcut, application, name>. Chuck Runquist If there's more than one way to do a job, and one of those ways will result in disaster, then somebody will do it that way. Chuck You are right about the Dragon NaturallySpeaking program I am running. I tried your advice by setting the links up as new shortcuts rather than copying and pasting them in as before. This worked great for the first two times I tried them, but after that the same problem occurred again. I've tried this on four or five different links. Lunis Any further advice? ------------------------- djbman |

Did the static sound broken or continuous? If it's broken, you might have a frayed cable or lose connection but if it's constant, you are probably experiencing some form of interference and about the only solution we can recommend is to use the process of elimination to identify the interference.
