I suppose there's an easy solution to this, but I'm not sure what it is. In my Outlook folder structure I've got a folder structure under the Outlook data file and then a folder structure under the Gmail IMAP address that I'm pulling in. The command "go to inbox" often, though not always, takes me to the Outlook data file inbox, which I have no use for. All I want is to be taken back to the IMAP inbox every time. If this makes sense, does anyone have a solution?

Ras,

Not knowing which version of Outlook you're using, I can't give you the specific procedures for Outlook 2003. However, if you're using Outlook 2007 or 2010, given that the procedure is similar but not exactly the same for Outlook 2003, you can go to the Outlook Options dialog | Advanced and look for the "Start Outlook this folder" option. If you browse to the location of your desired inbox folder and set that as the start folder when you open Outlook, it will automatically launch Outlook that folder highlighted (automatically accessed and available at Outlook start). There is no way and no command to automatically switch to that inbox using DNS 11.5, but setting up Outlook the above manner will automatically start you off in that inbox every time that you open Outlook. If you need to go to the Outlook data file inbox, then "switch to" or "go to" commands will take you there. Unfortunately, when she get to the standard inbox, then getting back will be a problem. Regardless, you can at least start Outlook with the inbox that you want to access by setting it up in this manner.

We suspect you are referring to Outlook 2010. Unfortunately, Outlook 2010 includes a several Natural Language commands which override your current KnowBrainer 2011 Go to In Box command. If you are displaying the legacy yellow Results Box (our preference) when you say “go to inbox” you'll see it appear in the Results Box in lower case as go to inbox. Note that we use orange to represent built-in DNS commands and red to represent KnowBrainer commands. Note that KnowBrainer commands will always appear in Title Case in the Results Box while most NaturallySpeaking commands will appear in lower case.

Unfortunately, Nuance assigned the
go to inbox command to behave the same way as clicking the Mail icon which means that if you previously selected the Deleted Items folder, focus will remain in that same folder. To further rub salt into the wound, Nuance loves to use every variation which means they screwed up other commands such as the switch to inbox
macro which prevents us from easily fixing the problem.

Fortunately, Nuance tends to stay away from WYSWYS (What You See Is What You Say) which we love to tinker with. We do not know precisely when the next free upgrade of KnowBrainer will become available but we are planning on releasing another incremental upgrade which we have decided to call REV E rather than releasing KnowBrainer 2012. We have just finished testing some new Outlook commands that we believe will take care of the problem. You should be able to say the name of any folder to immediately switch to it. Some examples include
Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Junk E-Mail, Outbox, Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes, Journal, Folder List, and Shortcuts. To make things even more interesting, you will also be able to add the word Search to any of the previous commands. Example: Say Search Contacts to perform that function. And… If that's not enough, the next version of KnowBrainer will include global search commands so that you don't have to be within Outlook to search your calendar.

PS: After you locate a contact, you can also say Dial Number without even having to open the contact. You will need a modem to perform this function.

Boy, being able to do those things would be a "no-brainer" :-)

Thank

Ras,

I am willing to guess that your IMAP account and inbox is below your Outlook data file structure.  So what you need to do is to make your IMAP account and inbox the default folder structure.  If your Outlook is 2007 or 2010, to do this:

Firstly in Outlook, go to:

Tools | Account settings | E-mail accounts: and on this setting, choose the account you want to be as the default account and click 'Set as Default.'

Secondly in Outlook, go to:

Tools | Account settings | Data files: and on this setting, choose the (same) account you want to be as the default account and click 'Set as Default.'

Once this is undertaken, the account you have chosen as the Default account should appear at the top in the Outlook list.

Then when you say, "Go to inbox," your IMAP inbox now being the default will be selected above all others.

Hope this helps

Cheers
