Lunis,

Just lately, when I highlight text from a post on this website for example and then say the KnowBrainer command, "Copy to Word," sometimes it will minimise the website, open a copy of Word, insert the cursor in Word but the final paste into Word does not happen.

I then have to literally say, "Paste" for the action to be completed.  It doesn't do the final paste as it should.

I say sometimes, because sometimes it will execute properly and sometimes I have to perform that final paste action literally myself.

It used to work properly without fail every time, it's just lately it has become like this.

Have you any idea why this might be so?

Cheers

We have verified the error and will have it fixed in KnowBrainer 2012. In the meantime, you can make a small edit to your existing copy of KnowBrainer to fix this issue with Windows 7. You will need to edit your KnowBrainer Copy to <AppList> command as follows:

Lunis,

I tried your edit line in the
Copy to <AppList>
script and by doing that, the command did not work at all.

I had to change it back to its original line in the end so I am now back to square one.

It's not the end of the world because sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.  You say you're going to fix it in the next release of KnowBrainer.  When is that coming out?

Is there anything else I can do to make it work for now?  If not, don't worry.

Cheers

Did you remember to close and re-launch KnowBrainer after making your edit? We haven't been able to make the command fail that's making the change.

Unfortunately we do not know when KnowBrainer 2012 will be ready because we are at the mercy of our programmer who was currently working on KnowBrainer FREE

I tried it once more just to make sure, closed KnowBrainer and Dragon, restarted KnowBrainer and still the command would not work.

The only thing I can think of is, if I have copied the edit line from your post wrong.  It looks pretty much the same to me though in the script.

Anyway, it did not work and I had to put the original script back.  Not to worry.

Cheers

I try to use the "paste special" in MS Word wherever possible doing this sort of thing.

Hi Art,

I'm not sure how to use the 'paste special' command or what its used for.

When I call it up, it gives me the choice of pasting in different formats and I believe its use is different to that of 'copy to word,' 'copy to other window' or the rest of the family of the 'copy to's.'

The copy to's in KnowBrainer perform about three or four commands in one normally, saving one a lot of time.

For example: I am writing this post to you from Microsoft Word.  I have already signed into KnowBrainer and Behind Word is the reply body field for KnowBrainer with the cursor ready and waiting in the place that I want the wording to be placed.

Once I have finished the post here, I simply then say, 'copy all to other window.'

Then, all of my wording in Microsoft Word will highlight, be copied, then Microsoft Word will minimise and all of the wording will then be transferred into the body of the KnowBrainer post.  This happens all in one go, some four commands all in one utterance.

Similarly, you can do it the other way round and highlight the wording from a post for example in KnowBrainer, then say, 'copy to Word' then all of the wording from KnowBrainer will be copied to a Microsoft Word document even if that Word document has not been opened yet.

You can also do this with other Select-and-Say applications such as Notepad, WordPad and DragonPad.

It's very handy for me.  Have you tried it yet?

Cheers
