The new Microsoft Edge browser was released today. If your taskbar still has a blue e icon, click the previous link to install the new Microsoft Edge.

In order to make Microsoft Edge Dragon friendly and add MDL's numbering friendly technology, you will need to click the following links from within Microsoft Edge and ignore the messages that state that the extensions are only for Google Chrome. The same extensions will work in Microsoft Edge. These rules also apply for that mattress tag which says “Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Law” but you did it anyway and said something like “You'll never take me alive Copper”:

Dragon Extension ~ for Dragon end-users (only)

Dragon Medical Extension ~ for DMPE 4 users (only)

Click by Voice Extension ~ MDL's numbering technology

Commands Updater ~ upgrades KnowBrainer 2017 to the latest build which includes Microsoft Edge command support

Public Toolbox ~ updated with the latest Dragon tools

If you are currently a Chromium Edge DEV or BETA user, you can skip most of the previous steps by copying your User Data folder from Chromium Edge to Microsoft Edge as follows:

If you are using Chromium Edge DEV copy and paste %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge DEV into Windows Search or File Explorer. Then copy the User Data folder to the %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge address. Overwrite the existing User Data folder when prompted.

If you are using Chromium Edge BETA copy the %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge BETA User Data folder into %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge. We recommend Chromium Edge DEV and Beta users preserve this browser until you are certain you are happy with Microsoft Edge. Yes, both browsers can coexist.

Note that Microsoft will automatically install Microsoft Edge in the next Windows automatic update so you can get it now or wait.

We are early on comparing Microsoft Edge to Chromium Edge DEV but can see a few immediate improvements:

1. Microsoft Edge is a little faster

2. We print a lot of labels and when the 2nd Print button appears, Chromium Edge required us to mouseclick the button so we reported this undesirable feature to Microsoft. You now only have to press the {Enter} Key which is more efficient.

3. As you can tell from our post, we use a lot of embedded hyperlinks. We have added around 2000 embedded hyperlink commands to Dragon which type our text, select our text, press {Alt+k} (open the hyperlink Window), type the hyperlink and click OK. We were not able to do this in DMPE 4 or DPI 15 because they use the dated SAX Basic scripting engine. DPG 15.5 added the significantly faster WinWrap Basic engine but even with the new engine, our embedded Dragon commands only worked 50% of the time. Interesting enough, when copying the same commands into KnowBrainer, they worked every time. Clearly Nuance has a little more Advanced-Scripting to tweak.

The reason why we are bringing this up is because our WinWrap Basic Advanced-Scripting commands work every time in Microsoft Edge while only half the time in Chromium Edge which means that it really was a beta release.

You will probably find more improvements but this is a good start.
