After my laptop picked up a nasty virus while I was it in the hospital (ironic, I know) the geek squad at Best Buy "fixed" it for me.  Since then I've been unable to use KnowBrainer.  KB2011 seems to launch okay but whenever I tried to use a feature beyond DNS (such as "down 4" instead of "move down 4&rdquo I received this message:

Run-Time error '429': ActiveX component cannot create object

I learned the geek squad had installed and uninstalled Google Chrome and did a little research.  I discovered uninstalling Google Chrome has a history of removing files, so I reinstalled Google chrome. I no longer get a runtime error, but KB still does not work.  I've tried System Restore & uninstalling and installing the KB program a couple of times but doesn't help.  I also learned this error sometimes occurred with KB2008 and Windows XP.  This is strange since I am not using either.  Any suggestions?

Our best guess is that the Geek Squad removed an important Windows feature so our 1st recommendation would be to perform a repair of Windows but if that doesn't work, you may have to reinstall Windows into a new directory which would be a lot of work because you would also have to reinstall all of your other applications. Unfortunately, from what you're telling us, your Windows installation sounds damaged.

Well, I hated to do it but I reinstalled Windows 7 and this got rid of my problem. Thanks for your help.
