Doesn't really have anything to do with speech recognition but if I leave Internet Explorer 9 open and idle for a while I can't connect to websites. Just comes up with the usual diagnosing of connection problems. If I close it down and then reopen its fine but it is a little annoying.

Any suggestions?

We've been using Internet Explorer 9 since it was beta and we haven't experienced this problem which leads us to believe that it has nothing to do with DNS.

Thanks for your reply Lunis

Yes it is completely independent of DNS, I guess I should try resetting Internet Explorer 9 to default settings and disabling any add-ons. Just thought somebody might have experienced the same thing even though I had difficulty getting answers from searching Google.

Steve,

Way back when IE 9 was still in Beta and shortly after the initial release of IE 9 I had a similar problem, although it was not with failure to open a website with that particular error, it was somewhat related.

After futzing around with it for longer than I wanted to, I discovered that the easiest general solution is to uninstall IE 9, and then reinstall it. Unless the problem is with your ISP (i.e., your overall Internet connection and speed), uninstalling IE 9, which should take you back to IE 8, then reinstalling IE 9 usually fixes problems inherent in IE 9's install.

Thanks Chuck

Did as you suggested and haven't had a problem since. Should have thought of that, sometimes can't see the trees for the forest.

Cheers
