Please be advised that the KnowBrainer website will be offline starting Friday, February 10th at 5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern. Services should be restored by early Saturday (the 11th) morning. However, we are also updating our DNS (Domain Name System - not Dragon Naturally Speaking) records with a new IP address. It may take a while for that DNS record change to propagate to servers across the Web, so the site may appear to be offline until Sunday or even Monday (depending on how long your local ISP caching DNS records).

So why the change? Well here is the deal: we are moving our hosting facility. Orcutt Labs hosts the KnowBrainer website, but the hosting has been an in-house operation. As a result, we haven't been able to offer all of the redundancy that other facilities can offer. With the facility change, we'll be collocating all of our servers, including the KnowBrainer servers, to a new facility. The new facility has redundant cooling, redundant power, and is fed by six ISP Internet backbones. We will be using a large range of new IP addresses that will be broadcasted (BGP) across all six ISPs so a failure of any ISP will have no effect on our services.

Ultimately this will yield much-improved reliability for all of our Websites, including KnowBrainer.
