To the best of my knowledge, it's not possible (without using BBCode or HTML). Lunis does it by using a Microsoft Word template. He sets up a template in Word containing his desired characteristics for forum posts, and copies from that template into the message box (using a KnowBrainer command, no doubt).

For the sake of readability  I personally prefer a uniform, simple font style. It helps keep the pages of uniform size, helps pages load faster (for those of us who may not be on broadband), and helps people who are surfing with a very minimal interface. But of course our gracious host can post however the heck he wants to and he'll get no complaints from me.

GDS is correct in that we use a Microsoft Word template and specialized commands to automate making postings. We like Microsoft Word because we utilize a lot of embedded hyperlinks and various colors but one area that doesn't match up well is paragraphs. If you create a posting with several paragraphs, they will turn into a single paragraph when you past into the browser. You can avoid this issue by using the KnowBrainer Hard Paragraph command or pressing {Shift+Enter} which is also how we upload codes.

The color, font-size, and font-family all can be changed via the Graphene Display options page. Have to be implemented via a child theme, using one of the many available action hooks.
