Hi, I work in Hansard, Canberra as an editor. Our parliamentary publishing system (hansard production system) is a highly adapted Sharepoint system for producing customised word documents for publishing on line and in print. A bunch of us use DNS for our transcription and editing work. Yesterday there was an update for this HPS system. We also had v11.0 upgraded yesterday to 11.5. There seem to be a number of issues, but one relates to a part of a command that was working fine now not working. As further background, we will be moving to Windows 7 but not for a couple of months. Meanwhile we remain in a Vista environment, which I understand has issues related to access to memory for Dragon. As background on the command, early last year with the fantastic guidance of members of this site I was able to compile a very nice command solution for putting in what we call side names for members of parliament, senators, presiding officers, committee members and witnesses. For example, for a speech in parliament, by saying 'go speech jenkins' the command would extract two variables ('s' for speech and 'jenk' for Jenkins) to produce a line 'sjenk'. The command would expand to: Mr JENKINS (Member for La Trobe) (12:00): Here is the command (excuse my layman's descriptions): Sub Main Dim member As String End Sub
The final line of the command was HeardWord "\cap". This was to capitalise the first word after this side name element. This is no longer working. I thought it may be an issue with Heardword commands in v11.5 but the previous line (HeardWord "press", "space", "bar" Any ideas as to what might be causing this?? Thanks in anticipation.

I thought it may be an issue with Heardword commands in v11.5 Richard, You need to change the HeardWord "\cap" to HeardWord "\Cap" with a capital "C" in v. 11.5 for it to work. Thank you, MDH-- you're a marvel. All is well now. There is always someone on this forum willing and able to share their knowledge. It is truly very much appreciated. How did you know about this? Is there a reference work to refer to with Nuance, for example? Anyway, thanks again. I will hit the answered button next. Quote: How did you know about this? Richard, You are most welcome. If you have a problem or question, you can do a "Search" (see top right) first. If you put in the word: HeardWord, then do the search and peruse the thread topics, you will find on the second page the following which has several references to this problem: I enter data into EMR templates and wish to have the first word of every entry capitalized and use this technique rather than having to say "Cap" each time. If doing a Search fails to solve your problem/answer your question, just ask on the Forum--someone will certainly be able to help. MDH ------------------------- |
