I have a number of scripted commands that I use with Dragon in our EHR. When working through home via a VPN connection to my work desktop, the scripted commands behave differently depending on computer used. They work flawlassely on an HP dv6 Pavilion with an AMD-3400M 1.4 GHz processor, 4 G RAM, running Windows 7 64-bit OS. I am using Dragon Medical Practice Edition (Dragon Naturally Speaking 11), Knowbrainer 2011 Rev D. However, the recognition is very slow. On a Dell XPS with an Intel Core i7-2670 2.2 GHz processor, 8 G RAM, Windows 7 64-bit OS. Same versions of DMPE and KnowBrainer, I get inconsistent command responses. Instead of Alt+M, I may get a typed M. Instead of Ctrl+W, I may get a typed W. The F2 command does not consistently work to move to the next position. Typed words or numbers duplicate the first letter or number (i.e., eerroneous). I have had similar problems with Windows 7 on a virtual machine on a Mac with an i7 processor. The speed of recognition is much faster on either of these compared to the HP. I generally have set wait times of 1-1.5 sec and am using SendDragonKeys. Do I need to increase the wait times or is there some other way to make the commands more consistent? By the way, mouse position commands seem to work well. Any thoughts appreciated. ------------------------- Dragon Medical Small Practice 10.1 Intel Core 2 duo 2.1 GHz, 4 Gb RAM |

Try substituting SendSystemKeys for SendDragonKeys on Windows 7 computers and see if that helps.

this appears to be another instance of a known bug. see https://www.knowbrainer.com/PubForum/index.cfm?page=viewForumTopic&topicId=13566&pageNo=1#188D2AED-08F9-672C-401CC42DEDAF4EEDthread72431 and http://www.speechcomputing.com/node/3930 No workaround is known as of this time. |

While slower, the SendSystemKeys solution is working well.

Unfortunately, Microsoft has implemented some Windows 7 changes that were not a problem in Windows XP or Vista. We recommend dedicating SendKeys and SendDragonKeys for single commands such as {Ctrl+v} or text because typing words, Windows addresses and website addresses would be painfully slow with SendSystemKeys. We recommend mixing the 2 types of scripts for best results with minimal delays.
