Hi, We are using powerscribe 4.8. We are experimenting with headsets instead of the powermic because of the price. We are unable to find any hotkeys that can be used for the "Record" and "Transcribe" functions. Hence we have to use the mouse, click on the Record button on the scren to start the recording. It will help in reportign if we could either assign these hotkeys or script in such a way that when launched, it is ready for dictation. Will appreciate any help. Thx |

Yusuf, Years ago when I was associated with L&H & Dictaphone, I was familiar with Powerscribe. Just before I left L&H, we licensed Dragon NaturallySpeaking to Dictaphone because they were separating themselves from L&H as a separate entity. However, I have not seen the most current iteration as of Powerscribe, so I don't know how Dragon is implemented in such. Therefore, I'm not sure what scripting capabilities Powerscribe 4.8 has. If you could enlighten me on this, I might be able to help and there are several other members of this forum who understand how to use Dragon's Advanced Scripting. That being said, I do know that Powerscribe was designed to be coupled with the PowerMic™ I and II, which are simply offshoots of the original microphone that was included with Powerscribe. Because of that I'm not sure whether or not you can use a standard microphone for the purposes that you are requesting help on. I know of no one on this forum, and I could be wrong, who is familiar with Powerscribe other than myself, and, as I've already indicated, my familiarity with Powerscribe is way out of date. Regardless, if you can provide more detail on what Powerscribe 4.8 can do in terms of scripting Re: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, we might be able to offer some suggestions. Otherwise, what you're asking us is like trying to find a black cat in a dark room. Welcome to the World’s Most Popular Speech Recognition Forum
If Powerscribe uses a shortcut key for recording, you could program the shortcut key into any handheld programmable mouse microphone. The current least expensive hand-held programmable microphone on the market is the new Olympus DR-1200 and a slightly higher priced Olympus DR-2200 handheld USB Microphone -------------------------
