Hi,

I have a very simple command that isn't working for me. I want to send control, shift, and 8, which triggers a separate command from another app.

Here is my code:

Sub Main
SendKeys "^+8"
End Sub

The above doesn't work. I tried wrapping the 8 in curly brackets, but it still doesn't work.

The command works fine when I dictate "press control shift eight", which is a mouthful so that's why want to create this custom command.

Any ideas?

If you are scripting this command in Dragon, you might consider changing it to:

Sub Main
SendSystemKeys "{Ctrl+Shift+8}"
End Sub

If you know how to create a DVC command, you can use the following script in either KnowBrainer or Dragon:

SendKeys "{Ctrl+Shift+8}"

or

SendSystemKeys "{Ctrl+Shift+8}"

Thank you, that worked.

Why doesn't using the shortcuts/symbols like ^ for Control etc. work correctly?

We cannot be certain but DPI 15.3 utilizes the SAX scripting engine which is rubbish and should have been retired in 2006, when it was officially retired by Polar Engineering. It may be the culprit. Fortunately, it has finally been replaced with the WinWrap Basic scripting engine (which is used KnowBrainer) in the DPI 15.6 Download

I have recently done a clean install on my PC including DPI 15 which updated to DPI 15.3. Is DPI 15.6 only for specific users or versions? Why has Dragon not notified me of the update that I have been waiting for, for years?

You didn't need to reinstall DPI 15.0 and updating to 15.3 was another waste of time. Sorry you went to all that trouble when you only needed to download and install the DPI 15.6 Download. The good news is that you should be able to install DPI 15.6 over the top of Ver. 15.3. DPI 15.6 is not an upgrade. It is a full release that is freely available to everyone with a DPI 15 license. Nuance refers to this as an incremental release.

PS: Nuance never sends notifications unless a sale can be had. The Check for Updates feature only works part of the time and this isn't 1 of those times.

Unneeded downloads and installs does burn a little but being able to install over top will be nice for a change. Thanks for the info and download link Lunis.

Is 15.6 stable enough to mess with? Does it offer anything compelling if I'm not suffering from terribly slow deployments or random slowdowns or crashes?

Or phrased another way, is there any hope of a second, official "upgrade release" after they fix a few bugs after reading this forum and listening to Lunis? :-) Thank you

Ver. 15.6 is very stable and if you don't grab the DPI 15.6 Download, you won't have Microsoft 365 compatibility, the new stability, which was worked on for over a year and our favorite feature; the new WinWrap Basic scripting engine which finally allows you to reliably create Dragon commands with VerbalBasic II; which we released a few hours ago and haven't gotten around to announcing until now. Oops! You can also expect the same results when copying KnowBrainer commands into Dragon so you no longer have to purchase KnowBrainer

Nuance doesn't release a patch unless it is absolutely critical. That's enough of an answer for us. We have not been able to verify any of the bugs some others have reported and we believe it is extremely unlikely that Nuance is going to release another patch. This release took about 3 years and probably wouldn't have happened if it weren't for Ver. 16 being delayed. We suspect the only change will be Microsoft Certification, which has nothing to do with the installation.

Thanks Lunis, I guess I'll download it from your link and have a go at it.
