Yesterday I got this working... I lost the command (see other post) and I don't remember how I managed to create it yesterday. I don't want to spend another two hours on it so I am asking for help...

I want a command that puts single quotation marks around the thing that I will be saying next.

Just like 'Quote <dictation>' puts double marks around the next utterance, but now i only want single quotes.

It seems simple enough: copy the Quote <dictation>' command, rename it as 'single <dictation>', and replace the double quotes with single quotes.

I tried
out = " {"}" + ListVar1 + "{"}"
SendKeys out

out = " {'}" + ListVar1 + "{'}"

SendKeys out

I also tried something with Sendkeys only. I think that one worked eventually, but i can't get it done today.

thanks for helping!

I've tried something similar in DVC without success. However, I find it easier to use the built in Dragon capability for this. Although yes, it works backwards then but I've gotten used to that.

If I wanted to put single quotes around the word DVC in the above text I would simply say "single quote DVC".

Thanks, but I really want something that doesn't force me to repeat an utterance twice (first dictating it, and then quoting it). Trying to save my vocal chords!
Am trying to create this command in KB.

There is no need to reinvent the wheel because you already have Single Quote <dictation>Quote <dictation>Paren <dictation>Angle Bracket <dictation>Bracket <dictation> and Brace <dictation> commands in KnowBrainer. Additionally, these commands are designed to properly deploy in nearly all situations. See following example:

Ah, I did think indeed that I had used it before. The command isn't there now. Maybe I accidently deleted it, though I don't know how that would have happened.

It sounds like you might have a few other problems and you might consider uninstalling, reinstalling and then addeing the latest KnowBrainer build which is <%> KB Build 10 15 2019 (the 1st global command)

The quick reply box does not handle unescaped angle brackets <like this> so deletes the pair and content between them when you post. I am doing this in the quick reply box by using the html escape sequences: "<" is "& l t ;" (but delete the spaces and dont forget the semicolon). ">" is "& g t ;" (also w no spaces and a semicolon).

While this will work to give the symbols (as evidenced here) note, if you then go to edit the post you will lose them again. Otoh, in the edit or reply window initially, you can type the angles originally and they will stay when you first post (unless you go edit again).

So if you take your reply, and edit it, you can restore the angles in that editor and they will stay (but again, get removed when you edit again).

Have fun,
