The KB window changes to show it is recognizing Word or Firefox when I change to them, but not WPWin14. Do I need to rename the DVC or connect it to the WPWin14 executable? The only other reference in the forums I could find to this seemed to say it would just happen automatically, but it does not seem to be. Taylor Putney KB 2010, DNS 11.0, Win7, AMD 6-core 3.2Ghz. |

You cannot rename the command group names but this isn't the problem. Normally, when you click into an application, the KB 2010/2011 Window will display what application your cursor is in but only when NaturallySpeaking recognizes the application which means, Full Text Control applications. KnowBrainer works through NaturallySpeaking. If WordPerfect X4 isn't appearing in the KnowBrainer Window then you probably don't have NaturallySpeaking Full Text Control support. Are you able to select text, by voice, in WordPerfect X4?

Selecting works fine in WP X4. I can open a document, close and open KB and DNS, switch to the WP document and select by voice any words on the page -- but the KB Window still shows "App: KB2010."

What happens when you try deploying a KnowBrainer WordPerfect application-specific commands such as Date Time or Edit Graphic Box? We are asking because we no longer have a WordPerfect installation.
PS: Also note that if the application-specific commands don't work, you can create your own via the Add a New Application box. -------------------------

If I say, "Date Time" or "Edit Graphic Box," it types "date time" or "edit graphic box". I really installed KnowBrainer to try to get around quirks in how NaturallySpeaking (perhaps as affected by the Windows 7 operating system) is behaving with WordPerfect X4. I am not having the same problems with Microsoft Word -- and other than DNS, WP seems to be working fine. My hope is that KnowBrainer commands will work more reliably. I have also tried to add WP X4 as a new application. If I click "Add Application," a box pops up, but clicking the "Find Application" button in that box does not do anything. I would at least need to know what to put in the boxes and whether to choose "L" or "S". Taylor |

In most situations, the original KnowBrainer application-specific commands will work in later versions of the application but apparently something has changed in WordPerfect X4.
You're almost there with the Add Application. After this is open, you need to click the Find Application button and then move your cursor into WordPerfect X4. You have approximately 7 seconds at which time, the name of the application, will appear in the KnowBrainer Application Window. However, you have to create an Advanced Scripting command in order for KnowBrainer to build the database. Unfortunately we do not have WordPerfect X4 so we cannot build those application-specific commands for you. -------------------------
