What is the optimum hardware for Dragon Medical 11? Does it take advantage of quad core processors? Thanks! |

Mike, in your Member Profile page, you do not indicate, if you are utilising Dragon or not. In the course of the past seven days or so, I have read on this forum; two doctors have had so many problems with DMPE that they have reverted back to using Dragon Medical 10. One is a pretty prolific contributor, who utilises the sobriquet: MDH. The standard sagacious counsel given on this particular forum with respect to hardware is: the faster the better depending on budgetary constraints. In NaturallySpeaking Quick Tips, found at the top of the forum webpage, you find the standard guidance given by Lunis/KnowBrainer on the matter. Based on my own experience as a hard-core user of Dragon Premium, I think you will have a better experience with Dragon: if you get a nice quad core i7 with as an absolute minimum 8 GB of RAM. If you are proposing to use Dragon for the first time, can I emphasise the absolute necessity of getting a microphone and soundcard that is optimised for speech recognition, all of which can be purchased from the KnowBrainer store. ------------------------- DNS 12.0 Professional, Windows 7, Intel Core i7 2630QM, 16GB of RAM. Second-Generation SpeechWare 6-in-1. |

You'll find all of our computer recommendations when you look up “computer” in the NaturallySpeaking Quick Tips (at the top of this page) but we generally recommend 8 Gb of RAM, i7 quad core because Dragon Ver. 11 Best Match IV uses 2 cores and it's nice to have a couple of cores left over for other applications. Besides, the price difference is all but negligible.
