Announcing KnowBrainer FREE (A Free Lite Ver. of our KnowBrainer 2011 Command Utility)

KnowBrainer 2011 is a third-party command utility that is designed to add functionality to NaturallySpeaking. For more information on KnowBrainer, click on our What is KnowBrainer PDF file.

The real purpose of this blog is to announce
KnowBrainer FREE which, as the name implies, is freely available to everyone and has no expiration date. Please note that KnowBrainer FREE, like NaturallySpeaking Essentials, is more of an appetizer to the real deal. KnowBrainer FREE includes 54 cherry picked commands from KnowBrainer 2011. Note that the commercial version of KnowBrainer 2011 includes approximately 11,000 commands, the ability to create Advanced-Scripting commands verbally (via a patented process called VerbalBasic) and a Command Browser that will allow you to add, delete, edit, deactivate, or change the names of all existing commands. A few examples of KnowBrainer FREE “must have” macros include:

Add to Vocabulary – Adds selected text to your vocabulary. If you are tired of saying something like the plant store, followed by Cap that to produce The Plant Store, do it one last time, and say Add to Vocabulary to eliminate having repeat this procedure in the future.

Pick <1to10> - When utilizing Select-&-Say or Spell That correction, if you see the correct word or phrase on the list, you are prompted to say choose 1-10. The problem with this approach is that when utilizing Select-&-Say correction, the cursor is left to the immediate right side of the last corrected word/s. If you substitute Pick for choose, KnowBrainer will additionally move the cursor to the end of the current paragraph (saving a step). Example: Say Pick 3 to select the 3rd choice and move the cursor to the end of the current paragraph.

Continue - Moves the cursor to the end of the current paragraph.

Undo <1to20> - Presses {Ctrl+Z} 1 to 20 times to undo up to 20 changes. Say Undo 3 to undo your last 3 changes in any Application that supports multiple undo like Windows and Microsoft Word.

If you are not currently using KnowBrainer 2006 – 2011 or KnowBrainer 2012 beta click KnowBrainer FREE to download a self executable zip folder which contains the KnowBrainer FREE executable, installation instructions and a list of available commands.

I am using Dragon 12.5 in Microsoft Office 2013 and one of the annoying problems I am having that when entering voice for recognition, Dragon frequently just sits there and does nothing and you cannot even use the keyboard (but as I am disabled with my right wrist I cannot use the keyboard) and after a while puts up what you said, which is very hard for continuity of thought. There is no problem with my microphone nor any of the settings for using it, just that it seems that Dragon goes off to have a cup of tea and doesn't come back for a while and in the meanwhile if thinking that it did not hear you and so saying it again and maybe even again, when Dragon gets around to putting anything on the screen it will now put it up 3 or 4 times and then you have to delete the extra words. While Dragon sits there the green recognition indicator sits on the screen going round and round and round and round and round and you cannot do anything else with the computer while it is doing this. I have been using Dragon since 2003, I am not a newbie user and it is only since I started using Dragon 12 and 12.5 that this annoying problem turned up.
