In the past we've always compared the Sennheiser ME3 to other microphones because it was the crème de la crème of the microphone world.  This is no longer the case.

theBoom tied in first place with the Hybrid Sennheiser KnowBrainer (Sennheiser ME3) microphone for noise canceling but significantly bested the ME3 in accuracy.  Although each of our test subjects produced different accuracy scores, they all had one thing in common. All test subjects scored 2% higher accuracy with theBoom.  The average test subject scored 96% accuracy with the Sennheisers and 98% with theBooms which roughly translates into 50% less errors with theBoom microphone.

theBoom microphone also includes additional amenities such as:

1.  Headset speaker

2.  Sleek design

3.  Lightweight and rugged construction

4.  Can be used with PC/VoIP as well as most cell phones and wireless landlines

5.  Microphone mute switch and volume control
6.  Includes cell phone cable. Note that if you order without the PC cable, the microphone will not work for speech recognition.

Endorsement:

Just wanted to say thank you for your help in training DNS. It has been a heck of a lot more accurate and is much more pleasurable to do dictation on it! theBoom “O” mic rocks also now that I don’t have it so close to my mouth. I like it A LOT better than my Sennheiser ME3.

Thanks,

Dr. Jeff Petty - Texas

I ordered this headset to replace a cheap Logitech headset purchased at a local computer store. The service from Knowbrainer was great...the headset arrived in Canada three days after I placed my order. My first impression was that it was cheaply constructed. Made in China, as I guess most technology is now. Somehow I expected something with a little higher quality materials, perhaps made outside of China given the company and the price. I hooked it up with the Andrea PureAudio USB-SA USB Pod. My first application was attempting to perform revisions to a previously-written document. Accuracy was bad, mostly because I was dictating single words and short phrases. I then began dictating a new document from scratch. The accuracy then became very impressive. With long word strings, pronounced at a reasonably fast speed, the accuracy was very high. Most errors were prepositions and articles. Overall, I think it is worth the money. However, if you don't need to need to use the headset for speech reception (i.e., Skype, etc.), I would probably recommend the Sennheiser ME3 or the Knowbrainer knockoff instead, because of the likely difference in quality of construction.
