UniVoice is a non-gender specific, non-accent specific, non-age-specific universal pre-trained NaturallySpeaking user file that only requires the end user to run the Audio Setup Wizard to set the volume level of their microphone. Most of our beta testers reported a 2% gain in accuracy over their own pre-trained NaturallySpeaking user file. A 2% gain in accuracy can be enormous when you're accuracy is already at 96%. A 2% gain in accuracy typically means 98% - 99% accuracy or 1/3 less errors.
UniVoice seems to work equally well with untrained end-users ranging from 5-year-olds to 99-year-olds.
Digital Recorder Use
It normally takes about ½ hour to create a digital recorder user profile. We found transcribing a digital recording onto UniVoice to be just as accurate as a trained digital recorder user profile. At first glance, this may not seem profound but consider that for the first time you can record interviews between opposite genders and transcribe both parties simultaneously. You can even record reasonably well in conference mode and speaking of conferences... as long as no one dictates over the top of another speaker, you can even record a conference. Transcriptionists can finally retire their keyboards because as long as you use a high-quality digital recorder, like the DS 4000, UniVoice can transcribe everyone.
Note
UniVoice is not available as a stand-alone product or without KnowBrainer 2007.
UniVoice is designed for exclusive use with US English and will only work well for US and Canadian accents. UniVoice is not recommended for UK, New Zealand, Australia, South African, Indian or other English accents.
