I had problems with IE8 running on my WIN7 64bit system suddenly not working properly and the next thing was that I was running IE8 64 bit version. The problem now is that Adobe Flash Player is still playing catch up as far as a 64 bit version is concerned with the result that each time I open this forum's web page it keeps asking me to install the Adobe Flash Player Installer, which obviously does not work. The web page also no longer displays properly. My question is how can I revert back to the 32bit version of IE8 or how can I uninstall/repair IE8?

There is nothing like lazy major software manufacturers that refuse to upgrade their drivers. How many years has Windows 7 64-bit been out now . Our solution was to switch to Internet Explorer 32-bit on our Windows 7 64-bit computer. You will probably find both applications installed on your computer. It's not a matter of rolling back or installing the 32-bit version of IE 8 but rather just launching it. You should find both applications under your Start menu.

My problem is that when I try to launch the 32 bit version I get the message that it has stopped working and I get an exception message. when I revert to 64 bit it works but the I have the Flash player problem. this is the Message that I get. If I delete this message then IE8 32bit sort of works!
There seems to be a file corruption in IE8 or Win 7

Jomark, I have encountered exactly the same behavior on numerous occasions, but fortunately without getting this specific error message that you have posted, however Windows telling me that IE 8, when run as 64-bit, doesn't work any more and has to be restarted. It came up predominantly when loading the KnowBrainer page and prompting me to install the Adobe flash in, but it also happened with other pages. However, since I have been running IE8 entirely in 32-bit mode, I am doing fine - knocking on wood. In order to make sure to launch it this way, I haved pinned the shortcut to it to the task bar, and starting from there, after removing the previous shortcut prior to doing so. This works for me. Rüdiger you seemed to be having the exact opposite of what was happening to me. I have no idea what I have done but the problem seems to have been solved. Of course it may have been the heavy thunderstorm that we have just had. I disabled all add-ins in IE8 and have now reinstalled Flash Player as this forum requires it. I have not yet added the Google menu bar but will do so shortly.

This is clearly a nuisance and the forum membership shouldn't be required to switch to the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer because Adobe's too lazy to update their drivers. We have asked our webmaster to remove the Adobe flash player component (product carousel) from the top of the page.

Not sure what the issue is. I'm running Windows 7 x64 and IE 8 x64 with the most recent flash player. At any rate, the Flash product animation in the header on the site was outdated and unnecessary, so I simply removed it.

Quote: I'm running Windows 7 x64 and IE 8 x64 with the most recent flash player. Is your Flash Player 64bit compatible because as of yesterday there was no 64bit Flash Player that I could find although there was talk on their website of a 64bit beta version coming. Downloading the latest version running IE8 64bit on Win7 64 bit did not work.

Jomark, Unfortunately, there are two problems with this version. 1. It doesn't solve all the issues related to Windows Explorer 64-bit. Some Windows still do not function even with the 64-bit version. 2. This is version 10.1 and it is still Beta 3, albeit public. If you have obtained a 64-bit version of Adobe flash player that is "final release", it would be nice of you to share it with the rest of us. I did a search all over the Internet and the 10.1 Beta 3 is the only available version that I can find. Chucker I cannot now find a location where I downloaded it but it definitely said 64 bit. Perhaps the Webmaster can shed some light on it as he is running IE 8 64 bit without any apparent flash player problems.

By bad on that: I had IE 64 setup as my default launch when I clicked on a shortcut and, at some point, it appears I got remapped back to the 32 bit version. So I have been hitting Websites lately with the 32 bit version and that was what was active when I was visitng the forums.
